Interview with the girls…
What’s your name?
Jazzy and Ruby King
Where are you from?
Jazzy: Despite our American accents, we are in fact half British, half German.
What do you do?
Jazzy: We are both singer/songwriters for Universal. We are also in a band called Blonde Electra
What inspires you?
Ruby: I think music and fashion are what inspires us the most. From a very early age, we discovered music and how powerful it can influence people. Fashion came a little later. After wearing a lot of really ugly clothes, we soon got the hang of what goes with what and what absolutely DOES NOT! We discovered that what you wear is a statement to who you are as an individual. We think it’s very important to represent who you are, your character, the music you like, etc. I think people forget that sometimes. We choose not to be ourselves because we are afraid of what people might think.
Best advice you can give to anyone?
Jazzy: Fight for what you want. Never take ‘’No’’ as a final answer. Because things change all the time. What might have been a ‘’No’’ for whatever reason, may turn into a ‘’Yes’’ with a lot of work and diligence, or it might just be a change of circumstance which can change everything. My favourite quote is ‘’Anything can happen, because anything happens all the time. I think that’s very true.
Which music track does your image represent and why?
Jazzy: That’s a hard one because my sister and I have very different tastes when it comes to music!
Ruby: I like stuff that’s more old school. I’m crazy about 70’s 80’s music, Jazzy is very much into the current top 40 charts. But I think we can both settle on Justin Bieber’s new album Purpose.
What are you working on at the moment?
Ruby: At the moment we are working on our new album. This whole year we’ve been cooped up in our apartment, writing everything that we feel. A lot of really good stuff came out and we’re so proud of this one. It would be a lie if we said this album has not been influenced by personal experiences. There’s a lot of hidden truth in the lyrics but all in all, it’s a very colourful album. There are lots of love songs, both sad and happy. But most filled with fucking great dance tracks.
Best moment in your career so far?
Ruby: I think the best moment in our career has been the love we get from our fans on a daily basis. Whenever I want to feel good about myself, I just check our Youtube page. We have some of the best fans in the world.
If you were sent to a desert island, what would you take with you?
Jazzy: Sun screen lotion!! My sister and I both have very pale skin. We’d look like lobsters in no time!
Do you cook? If so, what’s your signature dish?
Ruby: Jazzy and I have very different tastes in food. She’s amazing at cooking a good curry. I love anything to do with pasta!
Thank you for joining rocknroll December xx
Both: Thank you for having us!
