The Puretone Orchestra: Brixton Electric
This sold out gig organised by Steve Kundalini with Aiowave took place last night at the Brixton Electric, Friday 14th October 2016. A stage with visually and scientifically detailed technology with lighting and musically synced psychedelic movements that linked every track to the chakras through colour and movement in this 3D effect. DJ sets by the best of the best was a huge success. Gaudi, Tripswitch, Kaya Project, Kundalini, Shpongle (Simon Posford) are just some of the names of the hefty top class line up. What was so unusual about this though was having a live performance by the incredibly rock’n’roll collective known as “The Puretone Orchestra“. This was their first live gig together back in London since the legendary VIP Puretone Resonate Festival launch party which took place exactly one month ago on the full moon at Youth’s (Martin Glover) Spanish abode, Space Mountain Studios. More on that one later! This band is a ground breaking and talented phenomenon that is bringing a new sound into the music industry on a global scale. To have this performance live on stage like this one at a psytrance party is a tick for originality in itself. The Brixton Electric totally connecting with the sound vibrations, so much so that when the legendary punk singer Bruno Aleph Wizard from The Homosexuals started on the mic, the crowd were singing back to him like an organic chant. The synchronicity here so natural that you almost didn’t really realise what was happening, it simply just happened. “Consciousness”, “Love”, “Consciousness”, “I’ve got this strange addiction, I sometimes call it love…” Bruno, with a presence that is so powerful, really brings that gritty punk vibe into the psytrance resonating atmosphere of these puretones. Singer Aurora Dawn bringing her flowing and flawless vibe into the whole set. Her voice, wow, you just have to hear her sing and you will be as speechless as I am… and addicted.
The band on stage last night consisted of Youth playing bass and his own personally designed musical art piece the long string drone. Jackson Scott on guitar, the legendary Dave Barbarossa on drums, Tom Grashion on gongs, rock chick Ariel Muller (singer from X-Dream) – man this girl has got bowls! Totally owning that stage in the centre while the sounds from the bowls took everyone in that room into a higher dimension. Jamie Grashion the lead electronica guru doing live mixing from the laptop! The beautiful singer Aurora Dawn (Alabama 3) and punk icon Bruno Aleph Wizard (The Homosexuals) on vocals. Steve Norris on guitar, Fab Banbury on a Bansuri – Indian bamboo flute, Sachin on tabla’s. Every single person on that stage a musician in their own right. So when joining them together as one for The Puretone Orchestra, let’s just say the entire production on every level was definitely psychedelic! Thank you to you all for bringing us something different, yet so right.
We love it.
