The Boy, The Mole, The fox and The Horse

The Boy, The Mole, The fox and The Horse.

I was given this book for Christmas. I had not heard of it before. As I let the book fall open I was so immediately captivated by what I could see that I had to write about it. It touches the heart strings, it understands, it comes along side, it is so beautiful.

We are all different. Each character in the book represents a different type of person. As Charlie explains at the start of the book, the fox for example is more “quiet and wary as he has been hurt by life” so he doesn’t say so much. The boy is really lonely but then meets the mole. Even though the mole is tiny, it doesn’t matter, he is there, and that means the boy has a friend, and so on…

It’s the best little book in the world. Every single page is an art piece.

Each page is also done in such a way that you can open the book at any part and you will read something heart warming that will simply change that moment into a better one than it was before you read it. So you don’t have to go from start to finish if you don’t want to (although I think you should at least once so you see it in the way Charlie Mackesy intended).
If everyone in the world read this little book, whether they are a child or an adult, I think the world would be a better place.

Having now looked into the artist / author (he is clearly both) Charlie Mackesy, it seems he gained his following on instagram by posting what is now the book, but as individual posts. The posts were so loved he was persuaded into doing a book. The launch was in November 2019 and already the book has been awarded a best seller, and well deserved at that.

Well Charlie, with whole hearted gratitude, “thank you”. The drawings, the words, the style in which you have created this. I will treasure mine always.
